1About these terms
These terms apply when you download or use Me Recorder for macOS or Windows, or use merecorder.com. By using Me Recorder you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Me Recorder is made by Trustek Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [number]), registered office [address]. "We" and "us" mean Trustek Ltd. You can reach us at support@merecorder.com.
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we handle and why.
2Your licence to use Me Recorder
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Me Recorder on computers you own or control. The licence lasts while you keep to these terms. We own Me Recorder and keep all rights we don't expressly give you here.
You may not:
- copy, sell, rent or redistribute Me Recorder
- reverse engineer it, except where the law allows you to
- remove or get around the 10-minute limit, licence checks or other technical protections
- use it to build a competing product
3Free use and the yearly plan
Free. Without a plan you can record meetings of up to 10 minutes of captured audio. You can review, edit, search, save and export them for as long as you keep them. Recording stops at 10 minutes, and Me Recorder warns you before you start and again at 8 and 9 minutes. Audio during the stop isn't recorded and can't be recovered.
Yearly plan. The yearly plan costs £99 a year, including VAT. It removes the 10-minute limit and includes dictation into other apps. One plan covers [number] devices signed in to the same account.
Who sells it. Our order process is run by Paddle.com, our online reseller and merchant of record. Paddle takes your payment, handles VAT, issues your invoice and processes refunds. Paddle's buyer terms apply to your purchase as well as these terms.
Renewal. Your plan renews automatically each year at the price then in force. We'll remind you at least 30 days before it renews, and if the price is changing we'll tell you then. If a renewal payment fails, your plan keeps working for 14 days while Paddle tries again.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account. Your plan then runs to the end of the year you've paid for and doesn't renew.
Refunds. If you change your mind, ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying or renewing. Email support@merecorder.com or contact Paddle through your receipt. This is on top of your rights under UK consumer law if Me Recorder is faulty or not as described. Our Refund Policy has the details.
After your plan ends. Your meetings stay on your computer and stay fully usable. New recordings go back to the 10-minute limit.
4Your account
You only need an account to buy, use or restore the yearly plan. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, so there's no password to keep safe. Keep access to that email address secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
An account is for one person. Don't share it or sell access to it. You must be 18 or over to buy a plan.
Signing in doesn't upload or sync your meetings. To move a meeting to another computer, export it and import it there.
5Recording lawfully
You're responsible for making sure every recording you make is lawful. That includes:
- telling everyone in the meeting or call that it's being recorded and transcribed, including people who join late
- having a lawful reason to record, and following any workplace or client policy that applies
- handling recordings and transcripts in line with data protection law, including requests from people who were recorded
Me Recorder asks you to confirm these things before it records. Confirming them is your promise, and we rely on it.
Don't use Me Recorder to record people secretly, to harass or monitor anyone unlawfully, or to break anyone's confidentiality or other rights.
6Your content
Your recordings, transcripts, notes and dictated text belong to you (or to whoever you recorded them for). They're stored on your computer, and we never receive them. That means we can't recover them if they're lost, so keep your own backups.
Automatic transcription and speaker detection make mistakes. They can mishear words, mix up speakers or miss speech, especially with poor audio or overlapping voices. Check anything important against the recording before you rely on it. Don't use a transcript as the only record of something with legal, medical or financial consequences.
7Speech models and third-party software
Me Recorder downloads its speech models from Hugging Face during setup. They include NVIDIA's Parakeet transcription and Nemotron diarization models. Each model comes under its own licence, which the app shows before you download it, and you agree to follow it. Nemotron 3 Diarization is licensed under the OpenMDW License 1.1, and a copy comes with the app. [Add the transcription model's licence once the production model is confirmed.]
Me Recorder also includes open-source software. Its licences are listed in the app under [Settings › About › Open-source licences]. Where an open-source licence gives you rights these terms would restrict, the open-source licence wins for that component.
We don't make the meeting apps Me Recorder works with, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Their own terms and policies still apply when you use them.
8Updates, availability and ending these terms
We update Me Recorder to fix problems, improve it and keep it working with macOS and Windows. Some updates may be needed to keep using the yearly plan. We won't remove a main feature you've paid for during your current plan year without offering a pro-rata refund.
Me Recorder works offline once it's set up. It needs to go online now and then to check your yearly plan. If our plan service is briefly unavailable, free recording, review and export keep working.
You can stop using Me Recorder at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or end your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, for example by getting around licence checks or recording people unlawfully. We'll tell you why. If we end your account without good reason, we'll refund the unused part of your plan.
9Our liability to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and your rights as a consumer under UK law.
If you're a consumer, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable. If Me Recorder damages a device or other digital content you own because we didn't use reasonable care, we'll repair the damage or pay you compensation.
If you use Me Recorder for business, we aren't liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts or data, or for business interruption. Our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Either way, we aren't responsible for:
- recordings that were lost because they weren't backed up
- transcription or speaker mistakes you relied on without checking
- recordings you made without the permission or notice the law requires
10Changes, disputes and the law
We may change these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any change that affects your yearly plan. If you don't accept it, you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of your plan.
If you have a problem, email support@merecorder.com first and we'll try to put it right.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. No one else has rights under these terms.
